Project Engineer - Long Beach, CA (14-135)

Job Description

  • Perform field walk down assessments of jobsites to facilitate office layouts of jobs in AutoCAD to perform heavy lifts / transports
  • Obtain working knowledge of Barnhart heavy lift and specialty rigging equipment in order to be able to provide solutions to customer needs
  • Perform minor design calculations and develop details under the direction of a senior design engineer (from time to time)
  • Function as field technical liaison for critical lifts – includes risk management functions and safety evaluations of projects
  • 25% of the time is expected to be travel away from the office
  • Full time position, excellent benefits, 401K up to 10% match

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural engineering or Mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited 4-year university with a minimum overall 3.00 GPA
  • 2 years experience in Civil / Structural or Mechanical engineering projects
  • Strong mathematics and analytical background
  • Must be able to work on multiple tasks with little direct supervision in a fast paced environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with AISC Steel Code and AWS Welding codes preferred
  • Experience with rigging, cranes, and heavy transport preferred
  • Must have working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD
  • Must be able to pass a Barnhart administered skills / knowledge test given at time of interview
  • Must be able to pass drug test, fit-for-duty exam and background check
