As an Insurance Agent, you must be self-motivated and competitive with an entrepreneurial outlook and a drive to earn. You must also have solid organizational, time management, and prioritization skills, as well as a strong work ethic. It is also important that you have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), interpersonal skills, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to quickly establish a rapport with potential customers.
Specific qualifications for the Insurance Agent position include the following:
- Current life insurance license or ability to obtain one
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability and desire to learn and be coached
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Customer service experience is a plus
- Sales background (particularly commission-based sales) is a plus
- Background in military or athletics is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent is a plus; college degree(s) in Business is (are) a plus
