Due to continuous growth, Cato is seeking experienced product development professionals.
This position will be responsible for the research and development of fabrics, working closely with Design, Sourcing and Overseas Mills and Vendors, driving daily communications with both internal and external business partners to support the execution of the fabric development process; and managing the day to day functions of the fabric library. Qualified applicants will possess a developed sense of fashion, the ability to interpret trends and has been part of the creative process. The right candidate is self-motivated, detail oriented, and organized; has strong verbal and written communication skills to work with internal and overseas business partners; and has strong computer skills to include Excel and PTC/Flex (preferred) to input and organize information into a database. This position requires 3-5yrs experience and strong technical background in textiles, construction, dyeing, finishing, printing etc. A four-year college degree is preferred.
These positions are responsible for creating on-trend designs that supplement the development of product consistent with the brand strategy of the company, development of new ideas through competitive shopping, trend research, and design recommendations; creating sketches and overseeing design, samples, and artwork throughout the design and development process while adhering to target customer and retail price guidelines; and working in a collaborative environment with our merchant and sourcing teams along with Asian suppliers. Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 5-10 years experience as an apparel designer with a proven track record in a fashion retail environment; experience working with overseas suppliers; experience in the use of fabrics and how they relate to garment design; strong fashion and creative sense; excellent design and sketching skills for technical drawings and freeform renderings; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment; experience in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and interpersonal skills; and the ability to travel. A 2-year college degree in Fashion Design is required.
Product Manager, Fashion Accessories
This position will be responsible for coordinating private brand product opportunities and coordinating the development of key items, fashion basics and fashion product. Qualified candidates must have direct import and product development experience working with fashion jewelry. The position requires experience sourcing the product, negotiating skills and strong technical background for reviewing product design, construction and quality. Overseas travel required.
Design CAD Technician
This position will be responsible for designing prints, patterns and colorations for apparel and accessories. Candidate must be able to create original art, put patterns in repeat, approve layouts/strike-offs, etc. Other duties include preparing presentation boards and collaborating on designs with our merchandising and product development teams. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and In-Design required. Interested candidates must be detail oriented, organized, have an excellent color eye and strong communication skills.
