Financial Analyst-Senior

Job Description

We are currently seeking talented Senior Financial Analyst for our San Antonio, TX facility. 

Purpose of Job:

Serves as a mentor to peers and team members and performs complex work assignments and problem resolution to support business decision and financial/accounting processes through one or more of the following activities: forecasts/plans, ad hoc analysis, reports and analysis, activity based costing, cost and benefits analysis, product pricing and profitability analysis, inter-CoSA billing, and other business planning support.

Job Duties:

  • Develops and leads team or process in delivery of financial forecasts/plans for a business area or expense category; guides team members and oversees implementation of forecasting/planning process and model improvement initiatives and business solutions.
  • Prepares and guides team on recurring or ad hoc financial reports and analysis or cost benefit analysis to support internal and external management decision-making. Interprets complex financial information and recommends and implements solutions to key financial and operational opportunities. Contributes to achievement of business goals and objectives by delivering value-added business decision support to customers and business partners across the organization.
  • Leads product assignments, product pricing, product profitability and ad hoc analysis. Acts as a valued business partner by providing informed, proactive analysis to enable effective decision-making and efficient resource utilization. Interacts with senior management and company leadership, guides team and promotes innovation and productivity to support USAA's mission and operating state.
  • Acquires and applies advanced knowledge of the business, its products and processes and serves as a resource to team members on escalated issues.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience)
  • 6+ years relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in applicable Microsoft Office applications
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant technical (accounting/finance) discipline
  • Successful completion of an analyst assessment may be required


  • Financial forecasting or stress testing experience.
  • Experience with Regulatory processes and reporting.
  • Experience with ALM systems such as BancWare, ORM, Kamakura.
  • Experience with bank balance sheet and income statement analysis.
  • Master's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
  • CFA charter holder
  • Ability to build and utilize relationships and regularly communicate with members across multiple teams.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, lookup functions, macros, etc.
    VBA or other programming experience.
