Human Resources Representative

Job Description

The Human Resources (HR) Representative role is responsible for providing guidance to assigned business groups.  HR Representative activities include: employee relations, recruiting and staffing, performance management, compensation, benefits, diversity, conflict resolution, management communication, training, process coordination, etc. The position also consults with management on a variety of HR and business-related issues on both strategic and operational levels. Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:Counsels business leaders regarding employee relations issues and recommends actions which are consistent with policies.  Counsels and advises management and employees on problem resolution, supervisory discretion and policy interpretation.  Advises and assists business leaders to ensure consistent application and compliance with HR programs, policies and initiatives.Executes project plans that will enhance staff development, engagement and retention.Assists in the identification, gap analysis, action planning and execution to close organizational gaps in areas of employee satisfaction, organizational development and effectiveness, training, and diversity.Supports implementation of HR initiatives to meet business objectives.Investigates employee relations issues, EEOC claims and workplace conflicts and makes recommendations for actions.Assists with the strategies for recruiting, staffing and management training program to meet headcount models and goals.Partners and assists the Human Resources Director with the HR due diligence process of mergers and acquisitions.Assists Human Resources Director with issue resolution, performance plans, corrective actions, terminations, union negotiations, recognition, exit interviews, succession planning, FLSA, FMLA and other human resources policies and procedures.Performs other duties, including ad hoc field assignments, as required

Job Requirements

•     Ability to work independently or in a group setting
•     Employment law knowledge with multi-state compliance
•     Excellent interpersonal and project management skills
•     Superior written and verbal communication skills
•       Maintain a high level of confidentiality
•       Ability to work well under pressure of deadlines and competing priorities
•       Ability to travel – 10-15% of the time
•       Exceptionally well-organized, detailed-oriented  EDUCATION  
•         Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
•         Professional HR designation (PHR/SPHR or equivalent) preferred Experience 
•         Minimum of 4-5 years of progressive HR generalist experience in an industry with large scale, dynamic change initiatives.  Multi-unit/state experience a must.
•         Proficient in MS Office – Excel, Word, Powerpoint
•         Minimum of 2 years experience with an HRIS system
•         Union experience preferred
