Job Description

  • Supervise youth and observe social behavior and educational functioning.
  • Stimulate interest and cooperation in individual and group classes and activities and observe youth behavior in response to treatment efforts.
  • Prepare daily lesson plans.
  • Instruct clients.
  • Prepare periodic and special evaluations through the Individual Service Plan (ISP) and Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Communicate orally and in writing all appropriate information.
  • Assess each student’s learning style.
  • Design and implement curriculum, instructional strategies, and materials appropriate to the youth.
  • Attend weekly team meetings.
  • Ensure attendance of students in all classes.
  • Check on normative behavior.
  • Complete all necessary paper work to ensure proper recording of student progress.
  • Maintain order in the classroom.
  • Complete educational report for Clinical department at 30 days of client’s stay, report all ethical and legal violations to supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and certification by the State Board of Education. 
  • Special Education Certification or experience with special education/emotionally disturbed students preferred. 
  • Must possess strong organizational and computer skills. 
  • The ability to type 25 wpm required.
