Search Engine Marketing Manager

Job Description

This position is responsible for managing and overseeing all SEM strategy development, implementation, tracking and performance, as well as supervise the SEM supervisors. In this client/reseller-facing role, they will serve as an expert in search engine marketing through insights and analysis, and should have strong analytical skills and proven experience managing dynamic and complex SEM campaigns.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•Executes and manages SEM strategies across all search products.

•Supervises and aides in the training of a team of SEM Strategists.

•Conceptualizes and initiates tests in order to continually improve key metrics.

•Provides insight for managing SEM campaigns for both small and enterprise level websites.

•Implements new technologies, automation capabilities, and/or vendor solutions that enhance SEM efforts.

•Becomes an expert in the functionality and performance of the company’s internal SEM Bid Management System.

•Builds forecasts based on historical data as part of the planning process for SEM campaigns.

•Stays abreast of the most cutting edge changes SEM. Continues to research and identify new trends and strategies in the search industry. Identifies integration opportunities.

•Acts as primary day-to-day contact on SEM metrics and insights to the Director.

•Acts as a main point of contact for resellers and sales staff in regards to high level SEM inquiries.

•Ensures SEM team is fully trained and up to date with the latest information.

•Provides detailed daily, weekly and monthly performance reporting.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

A BA/BS Degree preferred. Candidate must have 4-6 years experience in search engine marketing. Experienced in gathering insights from multiple data sources and making informed decisions to improve performance of site rankings. Google AdWords Professional certified required. Experience with managing large scale performance based SEM campaigns on enterprise level. Experience leading a team of SEM experts.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

The incumbent/candidate must have a detailed work ethic, be highly motivated, well organized and be able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individual customers, as well as all levels of employees. Candidate must have solid time management and written/oral communication skills. Computer skills are required for this position. Mastery of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint needed. Advanced experience and knowledge of industry research tools including, Google analytics, Omniture, Google Webmaster Tools, Bing Webmaster Tools, keyword research tools, Firebug, etc. Must have a strong understanding of HTML and CSS. Javascript, and PHP a plus. Candidate must have strong internal and external customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and resources are required.
