Test Engineer

Job Description

Test Engineer position to design, implement, maintain and recommend changes to test procedures/instructions, test software/hardware as part of the product evaluation processes. Support NPI (New Product Introduction) in the development of new or modified products by testing and evaluating prototype products.

Job Requirements

  1. Create test plans, test procedures or instructions based on the marketing requirements document (MRD), the product requirements document (PRD) or engineering specifications for product qualification.
  2. Design and build test software for the evaluation of verification testing or the validation of product qualification testing.
  3. Ensure that products being qualified are representative of the latest engineering designs as well as best manufacturing practices.
  4. Establish, implement and problem solving techniques on identified anaomalies/bugs and improve the cost of quality of our processes, parts and products.
  5. Perform data analysis (using statistical and graphical methods) to ensure only accurate information is presented and summarized to management.
  6. Prepare accurate cost and time estimates of proposed test projects.
  7. Complete test projects in a timely manner adhering to established schedules.
  8. Maintain accurate and reliable records of tested projects (including test plans, data, analysis, engineering communications, and final summary reports).
  9. Contribute ideas, as part of the quality team that will help improve our documentation, processes, and overall performance and reliability of our products.
  10. Performs other duties as required. 

  • B.S. degree in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • 4 years experience in an engineering testing environment
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW required; knowledge of programming languages (Java, VB.NET, C#, C/C++ etc) a plus
  • Proficiency with computers and experience with databases, spreadsheets, and word processing programs
  • Proficiency with interfacing computers with laboratory equipment
  • Proficiency with programming lab test equipment
  • Details-oriented, capable of quantitative technical analysis
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand schematics
  • Basic electronic skills (soldering, sensor interface circuitry, troubleshooting, etc)
  • Knowledge of programming languages (Java, VB.NET, C#, C/C++ etc) a plus
  • Experience with RF and RF test equipment is desired
  • Experience in working with contract manufacturers a plus
