Performs complex activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and for developing financial statements and reports. Duties may include: preparing financial and regulatory reports; reviewing data from the general ledger, unit reports and various financial systems to ensure accuracy; reviewing entries for reporting system; gathering and reviewing financial data for financial and regulatory reports; preparing and reviewing account reconciliation and certifications; performing a variety of analyses or projects relating to financial accounting procedures, methods or systems. Provides functional advice or training to lower level accounting positions.: 4+ years accounting experience.
contract to full-time position. Supporting the mortgage Controllers group. This position will be responsible for FFIEC charge-off and troubled debt restructuring accounting. This role will be significantly involved in the monthly closing process and monthly and quarterly SEC and Regulatory reporting. This position will also be responsible for preparing and analyzing accounting trends, implementing new accounting policies, identifying and implementing process improvements, creating robust accounting analyses and working with other complex accounting issues, as requested. Attention to detail is critical in this role due to the importance placed on accurate monthly/quarterly reporting by both internal partners as well as external regulators. Excellent organizational skills are needed as there are multiple deliverables that occur at the same time, necessitating the ability to multi-task. Also, certain ad-hoc requests may change responsibilities with little warning, thus the role requires strong problem solving and analytical skills. This role will also be a team leader in special projects to integrate and enhance current systems and processes. Experience with control environment process analyses is desired. This individual will communicate with various groups across the firm and will need to possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong knowledge of the mortgage industry is highly desired. Basic Qualifications: - 2 years accounting experience Minimum Qualifications: - BA/BS in Accounting or business related field - 2 years of SEC/Regulatory reporting experience - 2 years of accounting experience with the monthly/quarterly closing of the books' process - 2 years of assessing control and risk environment process analysis e.g. SOX controls - Strong knowledge of Excel, Access and Essbase - Excellent verbal and written communication skills Preferred Skills: - CPA/MACC/MBA - 5 years of accounting experience - 2 years of mortgage industry experience highly desired - 2 years of public accounting experience - Demonstrated strong teamwork, organizational, problem solving, multi-tasking, and analytical skills
