Strategic Account Manager - Telecom

Job Description

Generac Power Systems – Join the leader in the power industry! Our Telecom Sales Division is seeking an Account Manager to support the Western US Region, by maintaining and expanding our customer base.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes sales objectives by creating a sales plan in support of Telecom objectives.
  • Maintains and expands customer base by building and maintaining rapport with key customers and identifying new customer opportunities.
  • Achieve increasing quarterly, and annual sales quotas
  • Maintain sales records and current activity on progress to provide accurate forecasting reports.
  • Recommends products by identifying new product opportunities, surveying customer needs and trends; tracking competitors.
  • Develop prospective customer list and maintains accurate data for contract management system.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.
  • Maintain strict follow up on proposals to close contracts effectively and efficiently.   
  • Facilitate relationship with customers and industrial dealers to ensure IDC’s are properly trained on responding to customer requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate proficiently with National Account Manager to ensure area meets or exceeds sales quota.
  • Position is 50% new sales development, 50% account maintenance management.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of Account Manager experience
  • Ability to travel 50-70% of the time


Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to work cross functionally within all programs supporting customer & Generac departments
  • Proven success developing, fostering business or OEM relationships
  • Proven business planning and budgeting skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills to introduce new products
  • Detailed, focused and organized.  Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial culture.
  • Strong negotiation skills, excellent people skills, ability to handle difficult situations.
  • Ability to implement processes for interdepartmental program support.
  • Established loyal Telecom customer following a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite of products.
  • Capable to present at a technical level. 
  • Knowledge of power generation industry a plus.
