Mold Technician

Job Description

LETICA CORPORATION, a manufacturer of plastic and paper packaging products, is seeking a Mold Technician on 1st shift to join our R&D team in Rochester, MI.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Set up and adjust automatic compression, injection, or transfer machines used to mold plastic materials to specified shape, following blueprints, and utilizing knowledge of machining functions. R&D environment, NOT production.


  1. Set-up molds for processing tryouts ensuring safe and correct set-up procedures are implemented for installation and removal of the mold from the machine. 
  2. Visual inspection and minor mold adjustments (Example: shifting concentricity, bluing) to ensure proper filling of the mold. 
  3. Optimize the process to achieve the best possible cycle time and document. 
  4. Check weight and concentricity to specification and submit samples to Quality Assurance lab for testing.
  5. Maintains a clean working environment placing scrap and garbage in the proper containers for disposal. Tools, hoses, and clamps should be stored in the proper areas when not in use.  The floor, tables and desk to be free of clutter and other debris.
  6. Routine machine and auxiliary equipment maintenance to ensure equipment is working properly.  This includes checking the filters, oil, hoses, coolant, conveyor system, etc.
  7. Maintain a consistent inventory of material every month to ensure a sufficient supply by recording the daily material usage in a daily log and establishing the amount of material required for the following month.
  8. Know and adhere to all company policies and procedures. 

Job Requirements

Required Experience, Skills and Abilities:
  1. High School diploma or similar.
  2. Three (3) to five (5) years experience with plastic molding processes, equipment and materials.  
  3. Ability to travel to various plant locations.

Preferred Experience, Skills and Abilities:
  1. Industry knowledge of injection molding machines.  Will consider Press Operators or Die Setters who are willing to be trained to move to the next step in their career.
  2. Related experience with plastic shipping containers and/or paper cup forming processes, equipment, and materials prefered.  
  3. Familiarity with the ISO-9000 quality system.
  4. Plastics experience with raw materials and processing parameters of such.
  5. Basic computer skills (MS Excel, Word, Outlook).
