Job Description

Johnson Service Group is recruiting for an experienced, Manufacturing Engineer, for a well-established industrial client located just outside of Nashville, TN.  This position will investigate, design, develop or contract, and test concepts for improving the performance metrics of the company for existing and future product manufacturing areas. (US Citizenship or Permanent Resident required.)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set-up and operate various types of machines, tools, and power hand tools used to manufacture, alter, or repair machine components and prototypes
  • Install, debug and run-off new or improved processes and train others in the operation and maintenance of these processes
  • Implement changes / modifications to all production machines and tooling
  • Install and test new production machine designs, including concepts and tooling, and the development of fully functioning machine(s)
  • Provide technical assistance, instruction and training to all levels of the company on set-up techniques and procedures, preventative maintenance and operation of production machines and tooling
  • Troubleshoot and repair production machines and tooling, in conjunction with production, maintenance, tool room, managers and engineers
  • Perform dimensional inspection of product, tooling, and machine components, as required
  • Produce parts for samples or prototype orders
  • Contact equipment/tooling vendors and investigate manufacturing processes, components, methods and tooling that will improve company metrics
  • Travel to the other locations within the company, vendors, customers, trade shows, and training as required

Job Requirements

Required Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or similar area of study
  • 5+ years of prior ‘hands-on’ experience in a manufacturing plant as an engineer
  • Experience using CAD systems (preferably AutoCAD)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including spreadsheets, word documents, data bases and email programs
  • Vocational/Technical School/work experience related to machine shop practices
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong analytical capabilities
  • Experience with Process/Design FMEA’s, control plans and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Possess a basic understanding of machine control systems such as safety devices, PLC’s, HMI’s, compressed air logic and hydraulics
  • Familiar with TS 16949 & ISO 14001 Quality & Environmental Systems
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
