Opportunity Overview

The Resource is now searching for an Environmental Health and Safety Manager for a large manufacturing company in the greater Charlotte, NC area. This position requires 50-75% travel to the various company locations and international travel, as needed.

Responsibilities

-Provide leadership and guidance to company employees on safety, health and environmental issues.

-Display a personal commitment and focus towards safety and ensure compliance of policies are achieved at plant and corporate locations.

-Plan, develop and implement environmental health and safety programs, policies, and procedures, assuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

-Identify potential problems and recommend and implement appropriate actions to minimize risks.

-Develop communications protocols and measurements for reporting accidents, incidents and risks and drive corrective actions in partnership with operations leadership team and the senior management team.

-Develop and implement environmental health and safety training programs.

-Conduct work area surveillance inspections, air sampling tests, property damage and conduct personal injury investigations.

-Serve as the company representative to safety regulatory agencies.

-Perform due diligence reviews of environmental health and safety practices of potential acquisitions.

-Assist in management of departmental budget.

-Complete other duties and projects as assigned

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements

-Bachelor's degree in EHS, Engineering or related field.

-Minimum of 10+ years' related experience.

-Advanced knowledge of OSHA laws.

-Experience assisting or leading in a culture-change initiative in regards to best-in-class environmental, health and safety practices.

-Management/supervisory experience.

-Knowledge of State, Federal and Local laws and the ability to enforce laws and company regulations.

-Proficient in developing, interpreting, and enforcing company safety and health processes and procedures to include OSHA 1926 construction regulations.

-Excellent communications skills.

-Experience in a highly engineered product/process environment desired.

-Advanced degree or qualifications in a relevant field desired.

-Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is a plus.

-Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles desired.

-Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
