Tooling Manager, Injection Mold

Job Description

LETICA CORPORATION, a manufacturer of plastic and paper packaging products is seeking a Tooling Manager to join our team at our corporate headquarters in Rochester, MI.

Supervises associates who construct, repair, and modify dies, and maintain and calibrate machine shop tools, jigs, fixtures, instruments and dies.  Supervises the operation of various machine tools and performs related highly-skilled work such as laying out, fitting and assembling parts.  Participates in development work, including skilled fitting, timing, adjustment and construction of tools.

  1. Responsible for planning and managing work schedules for shops and associates.  Achieve the timely completion of projects by prioritizing and assigning duties based on workloads and resources.

  2. Engage in the design of new tooling for production and redesign or modify parts of existing equipment to improve manufacturing and/or resolve problems.  Analyze problems and provide technical support.  Implement problem solving solutions as assigned.  Set up procedures and operational sequences.

  3. Utilize knowledge of design and materials and provide technical input for optimum results in performance of equipment and machinery. 

  4. Determine the need for and arrange for any outside assistance from private machine shops and contractors within company guidelines.  Provide technical data and assist in any related support services.

  5. Maintain an orderly and safe operation by policing the housekeeping and use of safety equipment.  Motivate, instruct and assist employees to achieve optimum and safe productivity and develop advanced skills.  

  6. Maintain professionalism and stay abreast of new technology and developments through professional organizations, publications, vendors, and trade shows.

     

Directly supervises / manages 25-35 in the Tooling department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Requirements

TOOLING MANAGER


  1. Minimum Ten (10) to Fifteen (15) years of Industry experience.

  2. Minimum Four (4) to (Six) 6 years management experience.

  3. Knowledge of plastic tooling, metals, mold components.

  4. Experience with plastic material validation and plastic quality control methods.

  5. Application experience with plastic materials in Injection Molding of single and multi cavity tools with or without hot runner systems.

  6. Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational and problem-solving skills.


PREFER:
  • Knowledge of thermoforming tooling.¬†
