Leader, Continuous Improvement

Job Description

Job summary:
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Leader will deploy CEMEX Continuous Improvement program to all levels of the business using an integrated approach that includes training (on-the-job and classroom), Mentoring, Coaching and Certifying (Leaders and Workforce). 


Duties and responsibilities:
  • Teach, mentor and certify employees to the CEMEX CI standard 
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement within the business area 
  • Lead, manage and document improvement activities for the business area 
  • Coordinate with other CI leaders to leverage solutions across business and functional boundaries 
  • Identify and track financials for CI activities within the business area - Continue to develop CI skill level within CEMEX
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management


Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Business related field 
  • Black Belt Certified and/or equivalent Lean Certification preferred 
  • 10 years professional work experience, with at least 5 years within the Continuous Improvement function


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience in successful application of Lean and Six Sigma Methods 
  • Experience teaching, mentoring and coaching others in Continuous Improvement 
  • Demonstrate work experience deploying Lean methods 
  • Virtual team leadership 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills 
  • Able to motivate others 
  • Has a Continuous Improvement passion and mindset 
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus


Working conditions:
  • Capable to work extended hours as needed
  • Capable of working in an open concept office environment
  • Potentially hot, cold, dusty, etc 
  • Ability to travel domestically 50% or more


Physical requirements:
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
