Quality Control Laboratory Technician

Job Description

The primary function of this position is to analyze and approve incoming raw materials and outgoing finished products, in accordance with ISO standards. This includes creating and maintaining all of the products files and records, lab equipment and chemicals as specified by SOPS and methods.

Job Function
* Perform various wet and instrumental analytical tests on samples received in the lab; titrations(colorimetric, potentiometric, Karle Fischer), viscosity, color, pH, FTIR, NIR, GC(Headspace, direct injection), HPLC
* Approve incoming Raw Materials used for Production
o Log in sample(s) according to SOP, create product file and analyze according to "Raw Material Master Specification" document; retain sample, record data in product file and Batchcal; review and complete file, and approve in Navision. Ensure accuracy/integrity of data and report product non-conformances to supervisor.
* Approve Finished Product for shipment to Customers
o Review and approve batch sheets for production, log in sample(s) according to SOP, create product file and analyze sample(s) according to "Finished Good Master Specification" document; retain sample(s), record data in product file and Batchcalc; review and complete file, and approve in Navision. Ensure accuracy/integrity of data and report product non-conformances to supervisor.
* Maintain laboratory work space, equipment, and instrumentation in a clean operation condition
o Ensure lab equipment/instruments are functioning properly and working space is clean and orderly. Perform instrument calibrations on a daily basis, or as specified in SOPs. Record data, check for accuracy and compliance to standards; report non-conformances to supervisor or senior lab personnel. Troubleshoot problems with instrument operation as required.
* Assist as directed by QA Manager current practice for non-conforming products, customer complaints, etc.
* Assist in writing/reviewing Quality Assurance Standard Operation Procedures and Analytical Methods.
* Prepare statistical quality control charts; maintain database of statistical data from analytical methods

Job Description
* Prepare standard stock solutions from analytical methods
* Maintain product retains according to SOP; record product information in file, store samples, dispose of out dated retains (following safety procedures), and record final appearance at time of disposal. Record information when retain are opened or "borrowed" by other groups and returned.
* Assist in maintaining quarantined product files - approving for use, as per disposition, and analyzing for re-work and/or customer concessions
* Assist in/develop new methodology for existing and/or new instrumentation/equipment
* Assist with special projects, as requested
* Enter non-conforming products and corrective action in e-prism
* Work together with R&D, production, customer service and shipping and receiving personnel to provide quality products and service to customers, following ISO 9001 and procedures
Safety and Housekeeping
* Must follow all laboratory safety rules; must be knowledgeable in proper use and handling/storage of chemicals, wear proper PPE
* Prepare, handle, store, and dispose of Chemicals properly following safety and regulatory guidelines and site safety procedures
Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience
* Bachelor's degree in scientific discipline (chemistry, biology, life science) or minimum of five years of experience in an analytical laboratory.
Physical and Work Environment
* Must be able to work safely with chemical - no adverse reactions
