Overview A third-generation business, The Cellular Connection got its start as Moorehead Electric - a company founded by Edward L. Moorehead in 1937. Edward's son, Steve, took over the company in 1969 and began offering phone service under the Moorehead Communications banner. He eventually sold the electric business to an employee in 1990..

One year later, Moorehead Communications' cellular division, The Cellular Connection, was founded by Steve and his wife, Phyllis, with one store in Marion, Indiana. Today, the company is the largest Verizon Premium Wireless Retailer in the U.S. with more than 750 locations. Additionally, TCC is one of the leading DISH Network dealers in the nation.

TCC's long-standing relationship with Verizon Wireless, coupled with its buying power, creates more accessibility to customers while offering unparalleled customer service and competitive pricing. TCC's superior customer service sets it apart from the many other cell phone retailers flooding the market. At big-box stores, customers are just the next person in line. At every TCC location, customers receive personalized, one-on-one attention.

The majority of the company's stores are located east of the Mississippi River; however, TCC has expanded into the Pacific Northwest region of Washington and Oregon.
We will only continue to grow and expand to new and existing regions nationwide!

In 2008, Scott Moorehead, son of Steve and Phyllis, took over as CEO of TCC. A natural-born business leader with great vision, Scott worked his way up the corporate ladder by working every position within the company, including selling in the stores, driving the delivery truck, installing satellites, working in the call center and handling accounts receivable. This afforded Scott the opportunity to learn every aspect of each department and where efficiencies could be implemented.

Since taking over as CEO in 2008, Scott has led the company to 202-percent growth. In August 2011, TCC was named to the Inc. 500|5000 list for the second consecutive year. Inc. Magazine ranked the company No. 1,407-up from No. 2,148 in 2010-in its fifth-annual ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.

Over the years, TCC has acquired more than five cellular retailers and started a dealer division. In addition, the company formed a partnership with hhgregg in 2010 to open kiosks in each of the appliances and electronics retailer's stores.

Family has always been TCC's foundation. As the company continues to grow, Scott will nurture the feeling of a family business as his core philosophy. He attributes TCC's success to the employees.

"Without good people, you cannot make it 20 years as a company," says Scott.
