Career Opportunities

Ohio National Named Top Workplace in Cincinnati for
Sixth Time

June 14, 2015

Cincinnati –
For six consecutive years, Ohio National Financial Services has been named
among the top workplaces in the Tristate (as ranked in the June 14, 2015, issue
of the
Cincinnati Enquirer.)

“I
congratulate and thank each of our home office associates for this
recognition,” said Ohio National Chairman, President and Chief Executive
Officer Gary “Doc” Huffman, CLU, ChFC. “This ranking reaffirms what I’ve said
before – that Ohio National associates are the best and we have consistently
proven that. We continue to execute our vision on a daily basis and are a
consistent company of choice. I’m proud of the dedication, hard work and
commitment that our associates demonstrate every day, and I feel very fortunate
to be working with such talented individuals.

“Being
recognized among the best companies in Cincinnati for six consecutive years is
a tremendous honor. I offer Ohio National associates my congratulations and
sincerest thanks for everything they do each day,” Huffman continued.

One aspect
of the company’s organizational success is Ohio National’s consistent growth,
high percentage of long-term employees and low turnover rate. More than 400
associates have joined Ohio National since the economic downturn in 2008. Of
its more than 1,200 associates, approximately nine percent have been with Ohio
National 20 years or more and 32 percent have been with Ohio National for more
than 10 years.

On average,
Ohio National experiences a voluntary turnover rate that is about half the
industry average. In the past 12 months, the turn-over rate at Ohio National
has been very low. Less than 5.5 percent of associates left Ohio National to
seek employment elsewhere.

Ohio
National continues to experience significant sales growth in its core product
areas. For the 25th consecutive year, Ohio National grew its individual life
insurance sales in 2014. An unmatched record in the industry, a record-breaking
total of $150.7 million of new annual premium was reported for individual life insurance,
up 11.3 percent from 2013. Variable annuity sales totaled $2.3 billion. Core
earnings grew to $197.4 million.

Ohio
National’s community engagement also contributes to its strong corporate
culture. Ohio National’s 10th and 11th Habitat for Humanity homes were
constructed in Cincinnati during 2014. In recognition of its centennial in
2009, Ohio National made a $780,000 gift to Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity,
the largest one-time gift in the local group’s history. Ohio National also
donated more than $500,000 in 2014 for eight additional homes. Since its
inception in 1987, the Ohio National Foundation has donated more than $17
million to non-profit organizations in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Additionally,
Ohio National donated $29,000 to enrich the lives of children with
life-threatening medical conditions through an ongoing agreement with the
Make-A-Wish Foundation®, bringing a total of more than $200,000 donated to
Make-A-Wish® for the past five years of the program. During 2014, 2,939 Ohio
National contract owners consented to e-delivery of their prospectuses and
annual/semiannual reports. By electing this option, these individuals have
chosen a delivery option that’s ecofriendly. In turn, Ohio National makes a $10
donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® for each individual variable product
owner switching to paperless delivery.

Earlier in
the year, a confidential survey was sent to all Cincinnati-based Ohio National
associates, and the Top Workplace results were based solely on those responses
given. At Ohio National, 85 percent of associates chose to complete the survey.
This is the sixth year the Top Workplaces project was sponsored by Enquirer
Media and conducted by survey partner WorkplaceDynamics, a firm which has
surveyed thousands of companies across the country since 2006. In Cincinnati,
149 companies participated in the survey this year.
