Job Description

Emerald Resource Group is an Executive Search firm specializing in IT in the Columbus area 

Please note this is a direct hire position.  Our client is currently not in a position to hire H1 or Visa candidates. No third parties.

Salary:  Up to 75,000 to 105,000 base Salary depending on level of skill. (Mid or Senior) 

I have been tasked with screening and presenting qualified SQL Database Administrators for 3 separate direct opportunities in Columbus, Ohio.  I specialize in data within the State of Ohio, so do not hesitate to call me just to talk about the market and trends I see/hear.  

Functions of the SQL DBA

  1. Plans and oversees the technical transitions between development, testing, and production phases of the workplace.
  2. Facilitates change control, problem management, and communication among data architects, programmers, analysts, and engineers.
  3. Establishes and enforces processes to ensure a consistent, well managed, and well integrated data warehouse infrastructure.
  4. Consults on expansion and improvements to the data warehouse to include data from all functions of the organization using data manipulation, transformation, and cleansing tools.
  5. Supports data modeler in defining and modifying logical and physical schemas.
  6. Creates physical schema including partitions, indexes, tables, etc.
  7. Proactively monitors and optimizes database performance.
  8. Supports production changes to database and SSIS ETL environment.
  9. Troubleshoots database issues.
  10. Supports the ETL specialist (SSIS)  in loading the data into the warehouse/marts.
  11. Capacity planning analysis and communicating anticipated capacity upgrades to IT staff.
  12. Develops technical documentation and standards.
     13.   Liaison between Data Warehouse and IT Computer Services/Centralized DBA team

Job Requirements

Requirements of the SQL DBA/DW Administrator :

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years experience using SQL Server. (2008Rs-2014 preferred) 
  • 3+ years of experience with or, familiarity with custom SSRS Reports and/or SSIS packages
  • 2+ years experience with large scale databases and environments.
  • Partitioning of large tables/datasets experience
  • SQL Server AlwaysOn HA a major plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Experience/ability to learn  MS-SQL Queries and Stored Procedures.
  • Experience/ability to learn Business Intelligence Tools and Data Warehouse design 
  • SQL scripting skills
