Job Description

Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

The Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer position will play a key role in the continued growth and success of the company.  Working with the Quality Assurance team you will be directly responsible for QA support on New Product Development, Quality Improvement projects to reduce our Cost of Quality, root cause analysis at our China and US suppliers and improving our manufacturing process controls on both mechanical and electrical related components.  The selected candidate will be involved in every stage of the development cycle to assure that the Client products are designed and manufactured to comply with all applicable customer, government and industry regulations.

  • Work closely with the Product development team during early stages of product design to mitigate safety, reliability, performance and manufacturing issues.  Risks should be mitigated through benchmarking, creating Quality specifications, performing Design Hazard Analysis's, reviewing CAD models and developing Quality Control plans for suppliers.
  • Lead the identification of Quality improvement projects for the Client's current product line by analyzing customer service and retail defect data.  Utilize hands on mechanical engineering expertise in the creation of design and process solutions.  Improvements must better our design, customer satisfaction, Cost of Quality and manufacturing process control at our Suppliers.
  • Own preventative actions related to all products produced at the Client.  Develop technical specifications to mitigate failures on electrical and mechanical components.  Perform detailed DFMEA's and PFMEA's on all new products to prevent failures.  Work closely with suppliers in China, focusing on electronic components, to implement process controls to ensure stable and repeatable quality.
  • Perform preventative processes during early development, using tools such as Fault Tree Analysis, DFMEA, PFMEA and creating process flow charts to better capture and control our manufacturing methods.  Focused on electrical systems for battery operated products.
  • Perform root cause analysis efforts on complex product, design, business and manufacturing issues.  Specifically, this role will follow Six Sigma methodologies to define measure, analyze, improve and control.
  • Improving our manufacturing control by assisting in data collection at suppliers and implementing Statistical Process Controls.  Study, set and monitor control limits to ensure production meets QA specifications.
  • Travel internationally at least once per quarter.

Job Requirements

Required Skills:
  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a Quality Engineering or Project Engineering role with a focus on consumer products
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and other preventative tools such as Fault Tree Analysis, 5 Whys Analysis, DFMEA, PFMEA and Quality Control Plans.  Six Sigma Green Belt certification is desired.
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate technical solutions with United States and international suppliers is critical.
  • Qualified candidates must have experience creating test fixtures and prototypes to validate improvements and solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex projects, while collaborating with multiple departments throughout the company.
  • Consumer electronics design or productions related experience is preferred.
