Job Description

Gift of Life Donor Program, the non-profit agency serving eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware, is responsible for recovering and distributing organ and tissues used in life-saving and life-enhancing transplants.

This is a great opportunity for someone who desires to learn, grow and be a part of the organ donation, recovery and allocation team. This position offers tremendous growth and rapid advancement potential.

The Referral Intake Specialist triages all calls related to deaths and organ/ tissue referred to GLDP; Initially screens all tissue referrals to determine suitability, notifies in-house coordinator of all referrals that are suitable; Documents all referrals received and enters them into GLDP computer system; checks Donor Designation at state DMV’s; Assists Director, Manager, Supervisor or In-house Coordinator with handling of phone calls, mail, correspondence, requests for research donor charts and donor cultures; and performs duties of GOL telephone operator during hours other than 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Successful candidates will be able to work both 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. on a rotating basis (in 8-week intervals) working 87.5 hours (seven 12.5 hour shifts) bi-weekly on variable days during the week, including every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday) and every other holiday.

Job Requirements

Prefer Bachelor Degree in Sciences or a health related field (such as Biology, Health Sciences, Public Health, Social Work, Medical Technology) and experience working in a healthcare role (such as EMT, Research, Laboratory, LPN, Pharmacy Technician) is required.
