Job Description

ARCA Recycling is seeking a Transportation Carrier Coordinator at the corporate office in Hopkins.   The Transportation Carrier Coordinator is responsible for assisting in finding and creating a working relationship with an extensive base of contract transportation (trucks) carriers.  This person will have the ability to find innovative solutions, negotiate deals and handle day-to-day challenges.  As part of the carrier management process, this position will oversee carrier qualification processes through ongoing assessments of their financial stability and process controls around safety, security, insurance and performance. 



  • Use lowest cost possible transportation offerings without sacrificing superior service

  • Develop and manage a network of outside carriers to ensure adequate capacity for their assigned market to fulfill the company needs.

  • Negotiate with carriers to meet margin requirements and ensure maximum profitability.

  • Ensure client satisfaction and adequate service levels where freight is picked up using safe, reliable carriers.

  • Develop carrier relationships and contacts at multiple business levels

  • Maximize customer service, including communication and on-time-performance

  • Communicate daily with carriers regarding service levels.

  • Support carrier and warehouse relationships

  • Provide transportation reports to help manage the business

  • Update service-level reports and provide analysis on findings and trends.

  • Work with carriers to resolve billing issues.

  • Effectively manages time and resources to attain results

  • B2B calling (Direct Marketing) to create leads and seek out new carrier opportunities

  • Build business through face-to-face meetings and generates leads through networking and referrals

Job Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Commitment to the highest standard of professionalism, ethics and compliance.

  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and problem-solving skills.

  • A BS degree or associates degree in Supply Chain is desirable.

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in logistics is preferred and the ideal candidate should have specific experience in carrier management.

  • Knowledge of transportation market, commercial terms and project management is a must.

  • The candidates must have strong communications skills both written and oral.

  • Strong ability to persuade, motivate, influence and negotiate with others

  • Customer service and team oriented

  • Ability to handle/manage high workloads and work well under pressure

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs
