Salson Logistics, an Industry leader in Drayage and Transportation on the East Coast, is recruiting for a Transportation Safety Coordinator to support our Safety department. 

The Transportation Safety Coordinator will be responsible for (but not limited to) assisting and maintaining compliance with Federal, State and Local rules and regulations as they relate to drivers, equipment and safety. The Safety Coordinator will also assist in the fuel desk, audit and maintain driver logs, research and implement new DOT mandates as needed.  The Coordinator will assist with weekly safety audits, maintaining spreadsheets and follow proper record keeping as mandated by the FMCSA.  You will also assist with driver training and new hire orientation.

 

Other Responsibilities

You will interact with site and transportation managers to ensure operational activities are executed in a timely, efficient and effective manner.  You will help maintain core system data to assist in regular KPI and other ad hoc reporting.  You will assist in development of driver safety and DOT Training programs.  You must be able to support all company initiatives as it relates to safety, compliance, trucks/equipment, drivers, metrics culture and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

Duties
  • Collecting, scanning and auditing driver logs
  • Entering information in our computer systems
  • Dealing with drivers
  • Assisting Safety manger with general overall functions
  • Working with dispatchers to gather needed paperwork
  • Running reports

Requirements
  • 2+ years experience in transportation, operations, or logistics management

  • Excellent working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, HOS  and other safety regulations

  • Able to work in fast paced environment

  • Fast learner

  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to prioritize work flow

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels within the organization both in person and in writing

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
