Job Description

We are seeking an Assistant Director for our Early Childhood Center in Greenlawn, NY. The center is well established and serves children from 6 weeks to age 12.  This is a full time position and we offer benefits to include vacation, personal and holiday pay, childcare discount and 401k with company match.  Work hours are M-F 10am to closing (around 6:30pm) with very occasional after hours or weekend training/activities.

Must have previous supervisory experience and a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.

The following must be obtained prior to employment:

  1. Satisfactory reference checks both verbally and written.
  2. Satisfactory State Central Register Database Check for history of Child Abuse or Maltreatment from NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
  3. Pre-employment physical and T.B. Test, MMR Immunization Dates.
  4. Fingerprinting by NYS.
  5. Fulfills training requirements by NYS and Kiddie Academy

Job Requirements

Assists and supports Director in all aspects of management of the center, to include human resources, marketing, customer relations, financial systems, quality control and physical facility.  Fills in for Director if needed. 

  • Assists Director in management of center to ensure effective and cost-conscious operation of the center, while adhering to OCFS rules and regs and company policy and procedure
  • Works with Director to increase enrollments
  • Assumes full responsibility for center management in Director's absence
  • Accepts temporary work assignments and fills in where needed as instructed by the Center Director
  • Ensures center is clean and presentable at all times
  • Promotes team environment and enforces confidentiality when sharing information with staff members in regards to the children in their care
  • Keeps confidential observations and documentation in regards to child development, academic learning and health/safety matters
  • Responsible for staff scheduling and ratio to enrollment
  • Develops and actively maintains positive communication with parents
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30lbs
  • Assists Director in managing all resources effectively and within budgetary constraints.
  • Actively participates in local professional associations, such as local NAEYC and CCCS
