Job Description

Stephens Little has partnered with a large marketing and digital media company to assist in the search for a Financial Reporting/Technical Accounting Manager. This is a new position which will include playing a leadership role.
The Financial Reporting/Technical Accounting Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining policies that directly and indirectly impact the Company’s financial statements and financial controls. This is a highly visible role that works directly with functional leaders, cross functional teams and subject matter experts across the organization to ensure compliance with US GAAP. A person with business acumen, curiosity and ability to influence will enjoy the wide aspects of this role. This position reports to the Corporate Controller with overarching accounting and reporting responsibility.
Duties include:
1. Gain in-depth understanding of the Company’s operational models and business strategies.
2. Provide guidance on accounting interpretation and prepare or review memos on US GAAP matters.
3. Lead the adoption of new accounting pronouncements, including the new revenue recognition and lease accounting standards, and train the accounting group on processes necessary to implement the new standards.
4. Lead interactions with external valuation firms to support all fair value requirements to include merger & acquisition accounting, equity instruments accounted for as liabilities and annual impairment tests.
5. Develop appropriate documentation for the accounting treatment of complex and highly judgmental areas.
6. Partner with External Reporting to develop technical financial statement footnotes and disclosures.
7. Provide accounting guidance related to proposed transactions to support due diligence, special transactions, and acquisition related accounting needs.
8. Develop and maintain a complete set of accounting policies.
9. Contribute to development of cross functional processes/and or structures that improve the efficiency and timeliness of financial reporting within the organization.
10. Participate in special projects, as required.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements
The requirements for the Financial Reporting/Technical Accounting Manager are as follows:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, MBA a plus. Must be a CPA.
• 5+ years of Big 4 or Tier 2 public accounting firm experience strongly preferred. Combination of public plus relevant industry experience a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of general accounting policies and US GAAP.
• Strong planning, project management and analytical skills.
• Superior communication skills, as demonstrated by an ability to interpret, present and explain complex accounting issues.
• Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
