Be a part of changing lives! Our client in Durham, NC is seeking an IT professional with experience in the healthcare sector to join them as Director of IT. This is a high-visibility role with an emphasis on growth and progression. The ideal candidate will have business applications experience and director-level or senior management experience. You should have proven leadership skills, but since a small company you should have the ability to be hands-on technical as needed, too. This is a direct hire opportunity with a target salary of up to $130,000, with flexibility for the right fit. No relocation assistance is available, so local candidates are strongly preferred. Responsibilities of the Director of IT:
  • Be responsible for development and implementation of a proactive IT strategy (both internal and external IT) designed to lead the environment to meet the demands of present day challenges.
  • Build and implement actionable business intelligence metrics, dashboards, and analytics to advise the senior management team, and to assist all functional areas of the business.
  • Accountable for scalable, secure and cost-effective IT service delivery, including the implementation of IT policy.
  • Make recommendations/selections for applications to manage customer data and billing models to scale with a growing company.
  • Provide leadership in the recruitment, development and retention of a high performing team.
  • Successfully negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and technology partners.
  • Meet frequently with key internal customers to hear concerns and learn of critical needs that are not currently being met.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of computer networks including hardware/software support, training and special projects.
  • Secure network by developing network access, monitoring, control and evaluation policies / procedures and maintaining documentation.
  • Prepare users by designing and conducting training initiatives, writing and distributing user guides and providing ongoing support.
  • Ensure that internal and external-facing agency technology systems are HIPAA compliant and maintain a level of confidentiality that meets federal, state and local standards.
  • Oversee and coordinate the agency-wide use of telecommunications equipment including, but not limited to mobile phones, handheld devices, telephones, and fax machines.

Job Requirements

Requirements of the Director of IT:
  • BS Degree in Computer Science or relevant technical field.
  • Prior experience in a similar role for a multi-site healthcare center/hospital required.
  • Understanding of IT automation and system integration to drive efficiency.
  • Understanding of finance, billing, sales and HR systems.
  • Creativity and discipline to stretch budget dollars while achieving critical objectives.
  • Track record of being an effective leader.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT to solve business problems in a high-growth company; viewing IT as an internal service provider.
  • Must have a strong management background and understanding of P&Ls, KPIs, and change management.
  • Knowledge of architecture, data modeling, design and use of BI/data warehouses.
  • Experience architecting large enterprise application.
  • Experience in modern cloud based application configuration and integration.
  • Demonstrated track record of success and upward mobility.
  • Director or Sr. Manager level experience, with progressive responsibility in the above objectives.
