The department of Facilities Planning and Management at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Manager Information Technology I. This position is responsible for development, coordination, support, and delivery of information technology (IT) services to the Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M) organization, as well as to university community stakeholders via web interfaces and interactions.
The Manager Information Technology I will provide oversight of the department’s technology-based applications and contracting systems, Time Management System, mobile applications, desktop computers, and associated software deployed by contracted software vendors, and department digital equipment and applications. This position will be responsible for administering the department budget and recommending fiscal direction.
The Manager Information Technology I will provide guidance, leadership, and consulting to functional areas of FP&M, utilizing electronic technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness. This position serves as liaison with ISU IT Services, representing FP&M, and collaborating with them in the overall university IT support structure including information security and working with IT Services on the design and implementation of industrial control systems. This position will have significant input into the strategic direction of the work unit, will be responsible for enforcing the university’s technology-related policies and procedures, and for implementing these within FP&M. In addition, this position will support the development of FP&M training initiatives using various assessment, delivery, tracking, and measurement methods including electronic classroom and individual training techniques.
The successful candidate will possess strong communication, listening, leadership, and organizational skills. In addition, this candidate will possess the ability to manage multiple priorities; work with a wide variety of people and organizations; and possess conflict resolution, problem solving and analytical abilities.

Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is an organization that is dedicated to the maintenance and enhancement of Iowa State University, one of the nation’s leading educational and agricultural institutes. But more importantly, FP&M is dedicated to their employees and enhancing the lives of each team member through opportunities both professionally and personally. FP&M is one of the largest departments on campus and currently employs 450 full-time employees.
Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday
