Overview

This position is responsible for managing the Foreign Exchange (FX) Operations Department and all of the operational functions that the department supports.

Principal Responsibilities:
Manages the operations processes and metrics to ensure work is performed timely, accurately and within requirements for assigned functions.

Oversee daily workflow of trade settlements, client services, FX related account adjustments, banknote reconciliation, cash letters and check collections functions. Handle pricing small value FX trades.

Be able to assist with processing of all supported transactions and functions.

Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and that they are properly documented and adhered to.

Collaborate with other departments throughout the organization to ensure appropriate procedures are established and maintained and all parties involved are aware of, and in agreement with these procedures.

Supports the FX systems and works closely with vendors to ensure issues are reported and resolved timely.

Support testing for new releases/fixes and new functionality and coordinate training and implementation.

Support all initiatives and projects that impact FX.

Maintains specialized knowledge of products and services as well as industry, customer and operational requirements/standards. Utilizes this knowledge to guide staff and promote operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Handles issues, resolves problems effectively and determines when it is necessary to escalate further.

Own and support all functions associated with FX online trading, including client demo's, client on-boarding and trouble shooting.

Exercises the usual authority of a manager concerning performance improvement plans and reviews, promotions, salary recommendations and terminations. Coaches, develops and inspires staff to maximize their potential.


Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience Requirements:
College degree or equivalent work experience required.
5-8 years relevant experience.

Additional Job Requirements:

Behavioral/Technical Skills:
Broad knowledge of the banking industry, expertise in functions managed and the ability to keep informed of trends and developments.

Excellent ability to lead and motivate a team to meet department or project objectives and the ability to provide feedback in a manner that supports employee development.

Excellent PC skills required, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, internet and internal software.

Excellent customer service focus and written and verbal communication skills are needed to effectively correspond with internal and external clients. Ability to handle escalated situations using strong interpersonal, negotiating and problem solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to evaluate opportunities for process improvement and implement best methods and practices.

Excellent ability to coach, train and motivate employees to support department goals and objectives. Excellent ability to provide feedback that supports employee development.

Flexibility to respond to multiple ad hoc assignments and situations to support management objectives.

Excellent organizational skills to distribute work in an efficient and equitable manner and to prioritize multiple tasks.
