The Human Resources Generalist administers, coordinates and assists in the development of human resource policies programs and procedures at the Reno, Nevada location. The incumbent is responsible for driving the talent acquisition process (Sourcing thru Orientation) for exempt and non-exempt candidates. Provides HR support to the SA Automotive HR Manager on other human resource related matters.

Dimensions & Responsibilities for Direction of Others
May be called upon to assist other location managers. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training; assigning; administration of performance appraisals; and reward and disciplinary processes; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Nature of Assignments / Essential Functions
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time:
- Administer the companies’ human resource function and corresponding personnel policies that attract, retain, and motivate employees and comply with state and federal employment laws. Advise manager and employees on human resource issues,
- Conducts onboarding tasks to include new hire HR & Safety orientation.
- Serves as an internal consultant, providing guidance on a wide variety of human resource issues.
- Monitor the local market competitiveness of personnel policies and programs compared to comparable companies, industries, and labor markets.
- Administer indirect compensation (employee benefit programs such as health, dental, disability, and life and disability insurance, 401(k) plan, and unemployment compensation).
- Assists in the development of and oversee employment procedures to recruit, retain, and motivate employees.
- Performs payroll related duties to include master changes and time card processing.
- Identify and recruit for hire appropriate candidates for all levels within the company. May advise management on the company merit and incentive pay issues.
- Provide advice to management to insure compliance with federal, state, or local laws concerning employee benefits, compensation, wage and hour, employment, and training issues. May be asked to represent the company in regulatory matters and at personnel hearings and investigations and maintain knowledge of related rules and regulations.
- Partner with Human Resources Manager in administering performance management program to provide for equitable and appropriate pay levels and effective communication between management and employees regarding pay.
- Participate with Human Resources Department personnel in the development of and administration of appropriate and effective personnel policies to manage personnel and/or comply with government regulations, addressing topics such as employee relations, sexual harassment, employee concerns and complaints, external educational opportunities, and career development.
- May have responsibility the maintenance of benefit and personnel related records, insuring that proper insurance, 401(k), and government mandated personnel records are maintained.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.
Required Education, Experience & Training
(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)
- Requires education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field or a combination of experience and education. It is desirable for the incumbent to have attained additional human resource or business related education such as the achievement of CBP, PHR, or CCP certification.
- Requires 1-2 years progressively responsible experience in human resource management.
- Requires knowledge of employee benefits, compensation, and employee relations techniques.
- Requires knowledge of Nevada’s workers’ compensation program.
- Requires the ability to perceive employee needs/feelings and inform management of their concerns.
- Requires strong written and oral communication skills to communicate with employees at all levels within the company.
- Requires the ability to use a personal computer word processing, spreadsheet, and internet access software.
- Requires knowledge of and the ability to use the telephone system and a variety of standard office equipment such as a facsimile machine and photocopier.
- Requires a motor vehicle operator’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe fashion while carefully observing traffic regulations.
Protective Clothing Required
Requires the ability to wear eye protection, steel toed shoes, and hearing protection while working in the production environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds while moving files or manuals. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be loud when working in the production area. The employee must occasionally travel on company business.
