Job Description

The HRM is responsible for the oversight of human resource department, including the management and tasking of the human resource team.  The HRM forms a key role with the organization and partners with managers across the HR function to deliver value added service that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The HRM maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business units short and mid-range plans, its culture and its competition.  The incumbent develops policy and directs and coordinates human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, benefits, training, and employee services by performing the following duties: 


Manage HR Department

  • Prepares budget of human resources operations.
  • Oversee day-to-day management of HR Team and HR Department tasks.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with business unit leaders to identify needs.
  • Provide HR Policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies.

Employee Relations / Workforce Management

  • Works closely with management and employees to improve working relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues; to include effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). 
  • Identify training needs for business units and individual coaching needs.
  • Prepare reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, succession planning.
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of the success of HR related training programs.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.

Human Resource Information System

  • Develop and maintain a human resources system that meets management information needs and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure employee record keeping system is properly maintained, including, completion of an annual audit.
  • Prepares and/or reviews HR related management reports.

Risk Management

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure all benefit, payroll and compliance filings are completed.
  • Partner with outside legal counsel as needed/required.
  • Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Conduct safety investigation related to vehicle accidents and personal injury claims, including workmen’s compensation reports.

Job Requirements


  • BS in Business, Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of the resolution of complex employee relation issues.
  • 7- 10 years of HR Generalist experience, with a minimum of 3 years supervising other HR professionals.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Experience working with a multi-state, multi-site employer.
