Job Description

Mathematica is a nationally recognized research organization that conducts social policy studies on health care, disability, education, welfare, nutrition, and related topics. We are seeking a dynamic and self-starting Business Proposal-Pricing Associate to join the proposal support team in our Cambridge, MA; Princeton, NJ; and Washington, DC offices. As an integral member of the team, you will play an important role in carrying out its mission of ensuring production of high quality proposals that contributes to Mathematica’s success in engaging meaningful work. To that end, we are looking for someone who is ready to take on the following responsibilities:

  • Prepare business proposals for government and private sector clients

  • Develop complex budgets that may involve advanced formulas and/or Visual Basic application macros

  • Construct different types of budget presentations to meet various clients’ requirements and expectations

  • Review and revise budgets to ensure accuracy and that all costs are accounted for

  • Collaborate with Proposal Director and key proposal team members on all aspects of budget and proposal preparation

  • Communicate with prospective subcontractors to ensure timely receipt of accurate and complete business proposal information

  • Provide pertinent background materials on procurements for senior management to make informed decisions on bidding strategies

  • Facilitate final assembly, production, and delivery of proposals

  • Assist with writing responses to clients’ questions
  • Assists with developing and implementing the proposal support team's strategic initiatives

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, liberal arts, or related field
  • Previous experience preparing and monitoring budgets
  • Work and/or internship experience in an office environment
  • Demonstrated experience using the Excel application in preparing budgets and/or manipulating data
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Keen eye to details
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • The ability to handle multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadline pressure
  • The ability to work independently for long periods of time
  • The flexibility to work overtime as needed
