Job Description

We are excited to partner with a fantastic electronics manufacturing company in Dayton that specializes in a variety of products geared towards the Aerospace industry.  Our client offers a great working culture, lots of room for advancement, and a very stable environment as they have been in a growing business for over 60 years.
 
SUMMARY
Creates, develops and improves the manufacturing processes for Circuit Board Manufacturing by studying product, manufacturing methods and feed-back data.  Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Production floor responsibilities:
  • Recommends, tests and implements new capital equipment. Completes individual project plan schedule for implementation of new equipment or software that includes training and process specification completion. Completes hands-on implementation with production personnel.
  • Provides hands-on shop floor support. Performs OJT as required for the production personnel.
  • Completes process mapping and resulting process specifications
  • Supports continuous improvement teams and their activities
  • Confers with management regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential
  • Provides recommendations for production tooling designs: arbor presses (eyelets, rivets), component prep (special lead forms), wire crimpers, cutters, etc., conformal coating, bonding, masking, potting, stencils (SMT), fixturing (SMT, Through hole, final assembly, etc.)
  • Assures product and process quality by confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Maintains product and process data base by writing computer programs and entering data.
 
New Product introduction and documentation responsibilities:
  • Reads and interprets Engineering/Customer drawings, finished prints, specifications, and schematics for proper application to production processes
  • Plans and prepares manufacturing instructions, routers, processes, and time standards which includes sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations with ERP framework
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
  • Confers with suppliers to determine product specifications, arranges for equipment, materials and parts purchase, evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Provides material and labor estimates, factored by learning curve for bids and proposals
     
    Process improvement activities:
  • Continuously monitor the production processes for improvement opportunities
  • Use QA department’s on SPC, defect data and operators’ feed-back to identify processes improvement opportunities
  • Actively participates in CAR (corrective action) teams in order to ensure a proper resolution to production issues that resulted in non-conforming product.
  • Manages part maintenance database and optimizes the selection of components to minimize duplicate part procurements, improve processes, while meeting customer specifications. Participates in design for manufacture (DFM) strategies with our customers
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor Degree from a four-year college or technical school in an engineering discipline and one to three years related experience.
  • Experience with wire and harness products
  • Ability to read blue prints and designs
