Job Description

Senior Design Engineer

Instrument Panel (Dash), Door Panel, Air Vents , Glove Box and other. 
Automotive Tier 1


Senior Design Engineer will design Automotive Interior trim components used in Cars and Trucks at a European automotive tier 1. 

This is a confidential search with an expanding Global European Automotive Tier 1 company supplying to various OEM’s. Position is located at one of the company’s Engineering Center in Illinois. 


Sr. Design Engineer will use Pro-E 3-D Cad on a HANDS-ON basis. 


Work involves:

  • Create Engineering Concepts of Complete Instrument Panel, HVAC Air Vents, Duct Work for Air conditioning, Glove box, Door Panels and other components.  
  • Create Product Related Engineering designs of Class A Interior Automotive Trim components made from injection Molded Plastics in 3D Cad (Pro-Engineer).
  • Review interior design envelopes in 3D Models with customer engineering. 
  • Work with designers and engineers, provide technical direction and proposal for Automotive interior components. 
  • Lead and manage DFMEA process and technical specifications. 
  • Be the resolver in chief on issues directly with customer engineers on design related issues
  • Coordinate elements of development of these parts such as test engineering program timing, DVP&R, and support prototype builds.

Job Requirements

Senior Design Engineer

Instrument Panel (Dash), Door Panel, Air Vents etc. 
Automotive Tier 1




  • Must have BSME. (MBA or MSME) is a plus.
  • Must have experience with 3D Cad – Solidworks or UG or Catia PRO-E or Catia (Pro/E Engineer experience is preferred)
  • Prior Experience with Creo is a plus.
  • Must have engineering or design experience in Automotive Interior Components – Prefer experience with Instrument Panel (full dashboard design).
  • Must have 5 to 10 to 15 to 20 years experience in design, must understand complex injection molded parts, (base structure of instrument panel and cosmetic injection molded skin).
