Transportation Manager

The Transportation Manager coordinates the transportation planning of customer orders in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible, while meeting all customer service expectations and employee safety. S/he will interface regularly with product management, production operations, as well as carriers and customers, to discuss and improve how logistics are managed. S/he is the liaison between driver, customer, sales, and operations teams. S/he is responsible for dealing with carrier issues or communicating issues to carriers that have arisen and/or that may delay loading and/or on time delivery.

Essential Functions include:

  • Review and understand weekly reports to ensure cost is being managed efficiently and meeting on time delivery expectations.

  • Prompt and efficient response to calls and emails on all issues.

  • Communication with different brokers and carriers to arrange trucks and cost to haul different loads.

  • Negotiation on rates and large purchases of equipment: mainly semi-trailers and leases.

  • Determine finished product pounds for maximization of weight on loads shipped.

  • Oversee and investigate any accidents/incidents that may occur in collaboration with HR/Safety Manager.

  • Retrieve CSA scores from the FMCSA.

  • Ensure efficiency in truck scheduling.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years prior experience in transportation and leadership

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Solid knowledge of US Geography

  • Thorough knowledge of DOT Federal and State regulations

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
