Job Description

MarathonNorco Aerospace, Inc., Waco, Tx. a leading global designer, producer and supplier of highly engineered aircraft components for use on nearly all commercial and military aircraft in service today, is currently accepting applications for the following position:

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER


SUMMARY

Directs and coordinates development and production activities of the computerized management information systems department for the organization.  Ensures the execution of all day-to-day network / AS400 / web activities and execution of all processes necessary to ensure production environment stability, security, and performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Consults with management to analyze computer system needs for management information and functional operations, determines the scope, boundaries, and priorities of projects, and discuss system capacity and equipment acquisitions.  Recommends and develops plans for systems development and operations, hardware and software purchases, budget, and staffing. 
  • Evaluates proposed information systems projects to assess adequacy of existing system, providing AS400 / MAPICS RPG programming requirements needed for special projects.  Confers with department heads involved with proposed projects to ensure cooperation and further define nature of projects.  Researches software and tools to help increase productivity and enhance customer satisfaction.  Prepares progress reports to inform management of project status.
  • Manages the development, implementation, installation, and operation of information and functional systems for the organization.  Maintains awareness of developments in information technology for the formulation of long and short term planning.  Creates, maintains and monitors management information systems policies, procedures, and controls to ensure data accuracy, security, legal and regulatory compliance including, but not limited to, SOX, NIST 800-171 and DFARS Cyber Framework.  Ensures preparation and distribution of business reports and security of the database.
  • Consults, negotiates, contracts, and administers maintenance and purchase contracts with specialists, consultants, technical personnel, and/or vendors for services and products.  Participates in technical projects such as writing equipment specifications or developing computer programs for specified applications.
  • Implements work schedules, priorities, and department assignments to ensure efficient operation based on workload.  Analyzes department workflow and duties to recommend reorganization or departmental realignment within the organization.
  • Provides support to end users in the selection, procurement, usage, and maintenance of software programs and hardware, facilitating resolution of all support issues from end users.  Reviews reports of computer and peripheral equipment production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine costs and impact, address problems, and plan operating changes.  Ascertains needs and acceptance, and resolves problem situations.
  • Manages computer operation scheduling, backup, storage, and retrieval functions.  Revises computer operating schedule to introduce new program testing and operating runs.
  • Develops, maintains, and tests disaster recovery plans.
  • Complies with and conducts business in accordance with the letter, spirit, and intent of all relevant laws and regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions; wherefore, refrains from any illegal, dishonest, unethical conduct.  Maintains communications with all employees, vendors, customers and others in a cooperative and professional manner, while treating them in with dignity, respect and courtesy.
  • Performs other related duties as required and may be assigned.


MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees, manages and directs the activities of the Information Technology Department.
  •  Must be an experienced, effective leader, a team player and strong manager; able to mentor and develop a good team, to extract the best performance possible.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Must understand data, and possess exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities,
  • Must be a ‘hands-on’ type individual, with the ability to interface on the shop floor, as well as senior leadership and customers – all equally well.
  • Must be able to develop and align business plans with quantifiable requirements, placing the requirements into action.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Education:  Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.
  • Work Experience:  Ten (10) or more years applied hardware/software administration experience in an AS400 and Novell/MAPICS network environment, with three (3) to five (5) years of these years as an IT Manager in a manufacturing environment; RPG programming skills.
  • Certification:  APICS, a plus.

In addition this position requires:

  • Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Windows interface, Microsoft Office package (Outlook, Word, Excel), along with RPG programming skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication / presentation skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, analytical and problem solving skills, exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others throughout the organization.
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or otherwise able to review all export controlled technical information.
