Job Description

Position: Research Engineer (MEA Diagnostics and Durability)

Our client is a leading automotive OEM looking to add a Research Engineer (MEA Diagnostics and Durability) to their team. This individual will be responsible for conducting durability studies and electrochemical diagnostic studies to identify sources of MEA and electrode performance losses. The initial 0-3 months of training will be based out of Pontiac, MI and then will move out to Denver, CO at the National Renewable Energy Lab.

Research Engineer (MEA Diagnostics and Durability) must have experience with electrical voltammetry and EIA

Research Engineer (MEA Diagnostics and Durability) Description:

  • Conduct durability studies (primarily in single cell tests) and electrochemical diagnostic studies to identify sources of MEA and electrode performance loss
  • Collaborate with multiple groups to perform failure analyses on tested electrodes
  • Determine relative importance of different mechanisms of electrode degradation
  • Prepare written reports of test results and present results to broader team
  • Contribute to discussions with team on membrane electrode assembly durability 

Job Requirements

Research Engineer (MEA Diagnostics and Durability) Requirements:

  • MS or PhD with strong experimental skills and interests
  • Basic understanding of electrochemistry and PEM fuel cell technology
  • Experience with electrochemical measurements such as voltammetry and EIS
  • Experience with materials characterization such as XRD, ICP, SEM, TEM and EPMA
  • Will not sponsor applicants for work visas
