Job Description

Information Technology Specialist 4 Washington State Department of Ecology's Nuclear Waste Program (NWP) in Richland, Washington is accepting applications for an Information Technology Specialist (ITS) 4 position in the Technology and Operations Section. The ITS 4 position provides IT systems administration and IT desktop services for the NWP. This position combines the use of technology and customer service skills to meet the program's needs. Some of the key work activities of the IT Specialist 4 position are: Keep the NWP data secure and confidential. Configure users and IT systems for secure network and data file access. Maintain and protect logical and physical integrity on the Department of Energy and Department of Ecology data. Ensure regulations and/or controls are placed that limit availability, access, and/ or dissemination. Protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Create and maintain user, e-mail, and computer domain accounts. Install operating system security patches, drivers, and firmware updates on servers and network systems as needed in order to maintain optimal system performance and ensure data integrity. Plan, prioritize, develop and implement regular data file and system back-up schedules to ensure data and server integrity. Install server hardware, configure disk storage, and install operating systems. Independently solve technical problems that arise with Ecology IT server systems using advanced knowledge as an experienced systems administrator. Provide senior level IT customer service to the NWP staff. Train staff to properly use Ecology IT end user systems, so that environmental staff can work productively. Configure IT systems for NWP staff use. Keep hardware and software up to date for optimal performance and security. SharePoint Site Collection Administration Mitigate agency risk by facilitating consistent use and security management of SharePoint services based on agency policies and best practices.
