Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer - Project Lead

Apex Life Sciences is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer - Project Lead for our client located in the Don Mills area of Toronto. This is a permanent position on the day shift. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain new and existing manufacturing processes and procedures, as well as supporting documentation
  • Support translation of product specifications from Engineering to Manufacturing requirements
  • Specify and source process and/or test equipment to improve manufacturing capabilities
  • Support root cause investigations on production failures and customer returns
  • Assist Procurement, Design, Material and QA departments in vendor audits, root cause investigations and technical support
  • Act as the main point of contact on Manufacturing Engineering issues
  • Continually monitor processes and make continuous improvement recommendations
  • Work with Engineering in the NPI process to ensure smooth transition of newly developed products into manufacturing
  • Conduct training sessions to technical audience based on new processes/principles
  • Undertake and update multiple projects simultaneously

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical/Electronic/Optical Engineering or equivalent in career experience
  • 5 years direct work experience in a high tech precision Manufacturing Engineering capacity
  • Experience working with mechanical and/or optical components a definite asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Solidworks, PLM, & ERP would be a definite asset
  • AS9100 knowledge and experience
  • Proven track record implementing productivity improvements
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Solid presentation and effective communication skills are desired with strong command of the English language, both written and spoken
