Job Description

Community Renewal Team (CRT) seeks a Non-Profit Accountant to join our Finance team. We are the largest community action agency in the Hartford area.

Hours are Monday-Friday, 8-4.

The Accountant II performs general ledger account reconciliations and internal financial reporting. S/he is responsible for the timely closure of the month-end and year-end closing process for their (non-profit) program areas. They prepare and analyze monthly journal entries, general account reconciliations, financial statements, and assist in the preparation of monthly dashboards/financial forecasts. This Accountant is a Team leader for their assigned areas and works closely with internal and external customers. S/he works on our collaborative team to resolve questions and accounting issues.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.

A minimum of three (3) years of related experience.

Non-profit accounting background strongly preferred.

Knowledge of Generally accepted accounting practices and principles, Fund or governmental accounting practices and principles.

Proficiency in MS Office, financial software including Financial Edge and databases.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, technology, problem-solving, analytical abilities, customer service and organizational skills.

Must be able to perform full range of duties assigned working independently, applying well developed accounting knowledge and exercising judgment and initiative.

Must be able to collaborate and work as a team player.
