Position Overview

The Accounting Supervisor is a key position within the Finance organization with responsibility for ensuring accuracy with month end calculations, generating financial reports and taking a lead role in the budget and audit processes.  Will lead the Accounting and Accounts Receivable teams.  This position interacts with individuals at all levels of the organization and must demonstrate effective communication skills.   This role requires a self-starter; someone who will stand out as a leader in the department and have the ability to take initiative when needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a key leader in the department monitoring, directing and serving as a mentor to existing staff in Accounts Receivable and Accounting roles

  • Use judgment and professional skill in determining appropriate procedures and processes for accounting records; develop new processes as needed

  • Understand and adhere to the financial policies and procedures of the company; ensure that direct reports follow these guide lines.

  • Review and monitor entries to the finance system

  • Reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts on a monthly basis

  • Responsible for Month End Revenue, COS calculations, and associated reporting

  • Generate, review, analyze and communicate financial data that reflects actual financial performance against approved budgets

  • Take a lead role in the annual operating budgeting process providing analysis and review

  • Lead the year-end audit preparation and process; including reports in Excel, information collection and analysis.

  • Assistance in data collection and analysis.

  • Maintain awareness of and ensure adherence to ZELIS standards regarding privacy.

  • Excellent working knowledge of GAAP and ability to research and apply technical accounting pronouncements and directives

  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of balance sheet control accounts, month end close and all associated reporting

  • Has proficiency in providing information and analysis foryear-end audit

  • Has proficiency in generating various financial reports to show comparison of projected vs. actual revenues and expenditures

  • Works on assignments that are complex in nature in which judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize Solomon, MS Word and Outlook.

  • Excel proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to manipulate and create pivot tables and utilization of v-lookups and formula’s.

  • Thorough knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Staff Accountant
  • Prior supervisor experience desired
  • Exceptional problem solving and organizational skills
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to interact with all departments within the company
  • Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent  written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel plus general Accounting Software

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
