Job Description

Vaco Logistics has a client in Memphis, TN in need of a Director of Transportation. This position is a departmental leader directly responsible and accountable for the successful management of the transportation and transportation functions. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive strategic and tactical management to the transportation department. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 15 years' experience in supply chain, transportation and logistics.

Essential Functions:
  • Ensure superior, well-organized, compliant delivery of services
  • Achieve financial performance at or above established company plans and budgets
  • Capability and capacity of systems, processes, and resources to achieve rapid growth and expansion without sacrificing quality or efficiency
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth include service expansion, segment expansion and geographic expansion within the target customer profile
  • Continuously identify and implement opportunities to improve process efficiencies
  • Adopt monitoring systems and metrics (KPI) to validate performance against internal and industry benchmarks
  • Continuously achieve revenue and profitability growth targets through coordinated efforts with Sales and Marketing
  • Participate in the development of strategies, plans, and budgets for assigned areas
  • Responsible for recruitment and selection of human resources
  • Oversee and direct development and maintenance of department policies and guidelines
  • Participate in sales presentations to potential clients and support all current clients as required for matters


Requirements
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree; Masters of Science in related discipline preferred
  • Experience with FDA and other regulatory Audits
