Information Technology Director Job Title: Information Technology Director Department: Information Technology Reports to: County Administrator Last Revision Date: 7/21/2017 FLSA: Exempt This job description should not he interpreted as all-inclusive. SUMMARY Under the direction of the Harrison County Administrator, the IT Director is responsible for defining, planning and implementing IT infrastructure, applications, and delivery. The IT Director is to ensure excellent technical support with a high degree of customer satisfaction and timeliness is provided for Harrison County. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Review project plans to plan and coordinate project activity. - Manage backup, security and user help systems. - Develop and interpret organizational goals, policies, and procedures. - Develop computer information resources, providing for data security and control, strategic computing, and disaster recovery. - Work with elected officials, users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and manage the purchase, protection, licensing, maintenance, and replacement of systems and hardware devices (i.e., computers, printers, servers, routers, hubs, etc.), software systems, databases, and electronic documents. - Stay abreast of advances in technology. - Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems. - Provide users with technical support for computer problems. - Recruit, hire, train and supervise staff, or participate in staffing decisions. - Evaluate data processing proposals to assess project feasibility and requirements. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Must have 7-10 years of IT experience in a leadership role, with government experience preferred. - Must have experience in management of computing environments where Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Delta AS/400, JEMS Court systems, GIS, and Document Imaging are extensively used. - A B.S. in Computer Science or related field is preferred. - Combination of education and experience will be considered. - Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver's License and maintain licensure for duration of employment. WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires extensive work using a computer.
