Job Description

Senior Corporate Accountant in Albany, NY

Albany Molecular Research Inc. provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The Senior Corporate Accountant will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic, cross-functional and international environment with an experienced global finance team.  The Senior Corporate Accountant will work closely with the corporate finance and sales operations teams to support the Company’s accounting and compliance for our government sector business activities and lead initiatives to streamline and enhance the related processes. Additionally, this position will support various Corporate and global finance initiatives as well as the Corporate monthly and quarterly financial closing processes.  

RESPONSIBILITIES
•Support various Corporate and global accounting initiatives as well as the Corporate monthly and quarterly financial closing processes  
•Prepare the annual provisional and final incurred cost proposals to support the Company’s indirect billing rates on its government contracts 
•Assist in the preparation of monthly invoicing for Federal government cost-reimbursement type contracts in accordance with contract provisions and applicable Federal Acquisition Regulations, including approving the billing to ensure compliance and proper evidence exists to support the charges 
•Supervise the accounting for and monthly invoicing of the Company’s collaboration with the State of New York
•Working with the sales operations teams, assist with the development of financial estimates for new government contract business opportunities
•Develop, document, and implement government contract accounting policies in accordance with contract specifications, Federal Acquisition Regulation clauses, and /or generally accepted practices, as applicable
•Direct contact for Government contracting agencies (DFAS, DCAA) during audits and other inquiries
•Preparation of all required government contract reporting in accordance with the applicable requirements 
•Determine and report month-end estimates of billing and forecasts of future government contract revenues 
•Preparation of all required United States Census Bureau financial data reporting
•Identify opportunities to stream-line and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the period-end government contract billing and revenue reporting process 
•Lead, or assist with, the documentation of government contract revenue transactions as part of the month end close.
•Prepare ad hoc financial reports and perform financial analyses, as necessary.

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience 
• BA/BS degree in accounting or related field with 5+ years related experience 
• Some Federal or state government contract accounting and reporting experience preferred
• Public accounting experience preferred
• ERP systems experience preferred
General Requirements

• Strong interpersonal, communication skills that establish and maintain business relationships 
• Ability to adapt and react to change in a fast-paced dynamic environment
• Proven problem solver and independent thinker with a proactive approach to work 
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint 
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with groups 
• Excellent attentiveness to detail
