Job Description

Our client, a global restaurant franchise is seeking their Chief International Officer for Strategy. QSR or large franchise organization experience is a must.

Purpose of this role:

He/she will establish and oversee the business strategy for all Regions of the Company outside of North America and to support growth, increase profit and increase market share across each region. He/she will lead the strategic planning required to meet specific international needs within each region and top tier country, while ensuring alignment with global objectives

Job Function:

Strategic Planning- Partner with key stakeholders to develop long and short term integrated strategic plans for the International Regions. Provide vision and guidance on implementation of strategies, initiatives and projects supporting the Global Strategic plan as well as regional and country specific strategies. Review country business plans and performance to ensure alignment with global strategies and to ensure they are achieving the expected levels of performance. Develop strategies for continued improvement and that annual goal, sales, and operations are being effectively monitored in all areas. Provide effected problem solving recommendations to overcome region or country specific challenges for the business. Achieve buy-in with senior global management team on region and country specific strategies. Plan for resources and budgets as appropriate.

Leadership:

Provide strategic leadership and direction to the regional and business unit teams. Conduct filed visits to understand the challenges and progress of top tier business units. Provide guidance and input to all the regional and business units assessment of key markets. Identify best practices and provide coaching to regional directors and country directors to help them achieve their greatest potential while building a unified team. Provide guidance in areas such as sales, development and how to improve store profitability. Coach regional Directors and Country Directors on developing cross-functional teams to build a strong foundation for the brand to increase brand awareness, sales, profits, and smart development growth. Manage issue resolution in conjunction with Senior Management, Regional Directors, Country Directors, Strategic Teams and Area Development Managers. Frequently communicate with stake holders, obtain their buy-in and continually address internal and external challenges for International markets. Develop key regional leaders and talent to achieve full potential.

Innovation:

Supports implementation of global efforts that shape the future of the brand through strategic innovation pipeline- Product, Packaging, Promotion Equipment, Business Models and Practices. He/she will work closely with Supply Chain (IPC, R&D, etc.) and Marketing to ensure each region is being effective in it innovation processes and is improving core products.

Communication:

Ensures communication across regional teams, country stakeholders and key HQ teams including Marketing, Operations, Development R&D, Legal and Public Relations. He/she will explain the Strategic approach to all stakeholders to ensure buy-in and collaboration. Provide Leadership in planning DALC meetings and conventions. Attend all required meetings in the U.S. as well as additional meetings, mediations and conferences as required.

Coaching, Implementation performance and Team Development:

Provide coaching, guidance and direction to the Regional Directors to ensure that the regional teams are meeting the business objectives and performance expectations. Collaborate with Regional Directors and Business unit team objectives and performance expectations. Collaborate with Regional Directors and Business Unit Team leaders to help DA’s to maximize restaurant profitability by building sale, reducing start-up costs, improving the customer experience while operating restaurants in compliance with operational standards. Analyze the performance of Regions and Countries to identify needs for additional training and develop strategies for continued improvement. Provide guidance for problem solving and in seeking resolutions for unresolved issues in specific region or country. Responsible for recruiting for leadership positions, evaluate team performance and address performance concerns. Collaborate with cross-functional areas to develop and implement tools and training to help improve skill, capabilities and capacity to meet business demands and challenges across International markets.

Ensure that resources and budgets are being used effectively and properly within each region. Review business cases for additional resources, support or policy changes as needed to address country or Region specific business concerns.

Skills:

He/she must be a self-starter with demonstrated strategic thinking and leadership skills. Must enjoy working in a fast paced environment. Experience in leading integrated teams. Preference for individuals who have held Regional or National roles and have very strong management experience.

Education: Undergraduate degree in Business or Related Field an Advanced degree from a top tier school is preferred.

Years of Experience:

The proper candidate will have 15-20 years of management experience.

QSR or large franchised organization experience is a must.

This position reports directly to the CEO.
