With that in mind we have developed what we feel is a comprehensive, inclusive and diverse benefit package that is designed to achieve the maximum satisfaction of our employees. Health Benefits - available to all employees scheduled to work 20 hours/week or more.
Medical Care
Several medical care plan options are available to meet the diverse needs of our employees. Current plans include Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO, Blue Cross/Blue Shield EPO and Aetna Health Fund. Most medical care plans also include prescription drug coverage using a formulary.
Dental Care
The dental plan is a PPO plan that has both in and out of network benefits. It pays for services based on reasonable and customary rates.
Vision Care
The vision plan has a network of participating optometrists and vision care centers that provide vision care services at negotiated rates.
Investment Benefits - available to all employees scheduled to work 20 hours/week or more.
401(k) Savings Plan
Employees may contribute from 1% to 20% of pay on a pre-tax basis through payroll deduction. Gannett matches 50 cents of every dollar up to 6% of your contribution in Gannett Stock. Employee contributions are immediately vested. Employees with three or more years of service are 100% vested in Gannett contributions.
Stock Purchase Plan
Employees 21 or older can participate in the stock purchase plan. The employee selects the amount of their monthly payroll deduction. The deduction is then used to purchase Gannett common stock. Gannett pays the commissions and service fees on these purchases.
Life Insurance Benefits - availability varies based on full or part-time status.
Basic Life
Basic life insurance is available for all active full-time employees who work 30 or more hours per week. This term life insurance is equal to one times the employee's annual earnings and is company paid.
Supplemental Life
Employees scheduled to work 20 hours/week or more are eligible to purchase supplemental life insurance. Coverage is available from one times up to four times an employee's annual compensation.
Family Life
Employees scheduled to work 20 hours/week or more are eligible to purchase family life insurance. Coverage can be purchased to insure the life of the employee's spouse and/or children.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment
Employees scheduled to work 20 hours/week or more are eligible to purchase AD&D insurance. The AD&D plan provides protection for you and your family in the event of an injury or death caused by an accident.
Paid Time Off Benefits - availability varies based on full or part-time status and length of service.
Vacation Days
Full-time vacation is graduated based upon length of service from two weeks/year up to five weeks/year. Vacation is pro-rated in the first year based upon date of hire.
Part-time vacation is based upon an average of the number of hours worked/week and is graduated based upon length of service from two weeks/year up to four weeks/year. Vacation is pro-rated in the first year based upon hire date.
Personal Days
Full-time employees receive two personal days/year. Personal days are pro-rated based upon date of hire.
Income Protection Benefits - availability varies based on full or part-time status and length of service.
Sick Days
Only full-time employees are eligible for sick days. Full-time employees receive seven sick days/year. Sick days are pro-rated based upon date of hire.
Short-Term Disability
Both full and part-time employees are eligible to receive STD. Income continuance is at either 60% or 100% based upon full or part-time status and length of service and last for a maximum of 25 weeks. This benefit is provided at no cost to employees.
Long-Term Disability
Only full-time employees are eligible for LTD. Income continuance is at 60% and is contingent upon approval by a third party plan administrator. LTD may be time limited based upon disability. This benefit is proved at no cost to employees.
Additional Pre-Tax Benefits - available only to full-time employees.
Dependent Care Spending Account
Lowers your taxable income by reimbursing eligible day care and elder care expenses on a pretax basis - up to $5,000 per year, per household.
Health Care Spending Account
Lowers your taxable income by reimbursing eligible and out-of-pocket medical, dental, and vision expenses on a pretax basis - up to $3,000 per year.
Other Benefits - availability varies based on full or part-time status and length of service.
Adoption Assistance
The Adoption Assistance Plan will reimburse 100% of all eligible expenses, including agency, legal and court fees, and temporary foster care charges, up to a maximum of $2,500.00.
Advertising Discounts
Employees may run classified ads at no cost or at a 50% discount.
Credit Union
Employees are eligible for membership in the Telco Credit Union and Affiliates.
Employee Assistance Network
Offers confidential counseling services for eligible employees and their eligible family members.
Employee Mortgage Program
Offers a full range of mortgage options designed to make the home financing process easier and more convenient.
Employee Referral Program
Offers a $75.00 finder fee incentive for each successful candidate that is referred by an employee. The candidate must successfully complete the 90-day introductory period.
Gannett Match Program
The Gannett Foundation will match, dollar for dollar, any employee contribution from $50 to a maximum of $10,000/year to qualifying non-profit organizations.
Retirement
Employees who meet retirement vesting criteria are eligible to receive the company paid retirement benefit. Gannett's retirement plan provides for a monthly retirement income or lump sum payout upon retirement upon termination.
Subscription Discount
Offers a 75% discount on home delivery to employees.
Tuition Assistance
Full-time employees may be reimbursed for job-related education costs up to $3500.00 during their employment at Asheville Citizen-Times.
