Overview
Schwan’s Consumer Brands, Inc., a subsidiary of The Schwan Food Company, launched in 1952 as a “one man and a truck" food delivery business in Marshall, Minnesota. Marvin Schwan, a young man whose parents operated a local dairy that was struggling to survive amid government dairy price controls, packed ice cream in dry ice, loaded it into a road weary 1946 Dodge panel van and set out to visit rural customers in Southwestern Minnesota. By the end of the day, he had sold all 14 gallons and formulated the business model that would grow his fledgling company into a leader in the frozen-food industry. At The Schwan Food Company, we strive to enrich lives and to be the best branded frozen-food company in the world. Employees of our subsidiaries lay the foundation for future growth and prosperity by meeting challenges with creativity, energy, and an unstoppable "can do" attitude.

One walk down the frozen-food aisle and you can see Schwan's Consumer Brands, Inc. has a product for every taste.

It takes a lot of great ideas and products to be a leader in the frozen-food aisles of grocery, warehouse, club and convenience stores throughout North America, and Consumer Brands has achieved just that. With innovative brands like
Red Baron®, Tony's® and Freschetta® pizza, Mrs. Smith's® and Edwards® desserts, Pagoda Express™ specialties and Larry's® potatoes, it's easy to see why consumers love our food.
