Overview
Community Care Services (CCS), which started in the early 1950's, has roots in a number of Southeastern Massachusetts communities. Concerned citizens were seeking appropriate outpatient mental health services for community members. The outpatient clinics that grew from this concern provided counseling services for children, adults, and families and offered individual, family, couples and group therapy.

The clinics were supported by state contracts, the United Way, corporate grants, private gifts, and through the proceeds of local thrift shops that were staffed entirely by volunteers. In the 1970’s, citizens in several communities in Southeastern Massachusetts, who were concerned about youth and substance abuse, created organizations to address those needs. A series of mergers culminated in the creation on 7/1/98 of Community Care Services by the merger of Versa Care, of Attleboro, and ComCare, of Taunton. The merger of these organizations resulted in a comprehensive service network better able to support our local communities and residents.
