Public Transportation

Transdev is North America’s largest private transportation provider. We are also one of the only companies to provide a complete range of transportation solutions; from commuter bus to rail; from private hire to paratransit; from bus-rapid-transit to shared ride transportation. We like to think we have a solution for all transportation needs.

Being the largest is easy. Being the best take more work. In September 2005, Connex North America acquired ATC to combine more than 150 years of worldwide transportation experience.

Together we strengthen ATC’s already established commitment to customer service, driver training, safety and maintenance. Add Connex’s aim to bring to public authorities innovative solutions to their transportation problems, thanks to our experience developed around the world, and to our network of experts who travel the world to share and spread best practices, and we believe that as well as being the largest, we also stand out from the rest.

Whatever the size of the contract, we start with the basics. Motivate and empower our employees. Get the maintenance right. Get the performance right. And then we move on to more complex issues, like scheduling, marketing and transport integration. Transport is the only thing we do for a living, and we like to do it right. That’s probably why public authorities and private contractors in North America are beginning to trust Transdev.

Transdev is a wholly owned subsidiary of Transdev Environment, one of the world’s leading environmental services organizations and a champion of sustainable development. In today’s environmentally conscious world, sustainable development has become something of a buzz word, but it is something that Transdev takes very seriously. In fact, the “Global Reporters 2004” survey ranks VE the No. 1 company in France and one of the top companies worldwide for its commitment to sustainable development. Our Family Transdev's subsidiaries, our sister companies, complement each other to provide the full spectrum of environmental services. Energy services, hazardous waste management and water services, as well as transportation, all make up Transdev Environment. The Transdev group of companies work together and support each other throughout the world. On every continent, where Transdev may provide the transportation for a city, Transdev Water provides and distributes the drinking water and manages the waste water system. And Onyx, our waste management company will collect and treat the waste, recycling to help the environment, while Dalkia, our energy management company will provide heat, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. And we’ve been doing it for 150 years. Transdev ENVIRONMENT - Our core business is to serve the needs of the environment

  • Fixed Route & Commuter
Enticing Americans out of their cars is a notoriously difficult task. At Transdev, we hope our focus and creativity can provide a genuine alternative to the car.

  • Paratransit Services
When it comes to transportation, we recognize that one size does not fit all. While most companies speak of paratransit services, we try to embrace all types of demand-led transportation services.

  • Rail
Rail in general and commuter rail in particular, are two of  Transdev key sectors, with worldwide flagship operations in Australia, Sweden, France and Germany. In North America, we are rapidly growing into this market, bringing our international experiences to rail networks in Boston, the United States’ largest contracted-out commuter rail system, and most recently to Los Angeles formerly run by Amtrak.

  • Custom Transportation Solutions
For most corporations or institutions, passenger transportation is not a part of their core business. Yet many must depend on transportation to offer access to their visitors, employees or students. Whether it’s a shuttle service connecting an office complex with remote parking, a scheduled operation that connects several workplaces for one company, or an apartment building that chooses to offer residents access to nearby shopping or a transit line, our clients rely on us to provide a safe and efficient bespoke solution to their transportation needs.

  • Brokerage & Call Center Management
We have found a neat and obvious extension to our transportation business is the provision of call center (co-coordinating trip requests) and brokerage contracts (co-coordinating and distributing multiple trip requests to multiple service providers and modes of transportation).
