George G. Raymond, Sr. founded The Raymond Corporation in 1922 when he bought the Lyon Iron Works, an 82-year-old iron foundry in the rural, upstate New York village of Greene. During the 20’s the business grew, and in the 30’s it stayed alive based on the development of innovative products for the new material handling industry. In the 40’s the name was changed to the Lyon-Raymond Corporation and the Company began to grow again, supporting the war effort with products and systems designed to assist people in handling materials.
In the early 50’s, the name was changed again, this time to The Raymond Corporation complimenting the introduction of the product with which it is most closely associated, the first narrow-aisle electric truck. This Raymond invention, which created an entire market segment within the lift truck industry, was the first in what has become a half-century of innovation in electric trucks. In 1956, George G. Raymond, Jr. became President and the Company went public to raise capital to support the growth generated by this new family of electric narrow-aisle products.
Growth and expansion continued through the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s as innovation allowed Raymond to maintain market leadership in the face of increasing competition.. Raymond was the first North American manufacturer to introduce the following innovations that have ultimately become familiar products.
After 75 years of Raymond family control, in 1997 The Raymond Corporation was acquired by BT Industries of Sweden, which in turn was acquired by Toyoda Automatic Loom in 2000. Even as a half billion-dollar piece of one of the world’s largest lift truck companies, the Raymond tradition of innovation and leadership in the electric truck segments of the lift truck industry continues very much in the spirit its humble beginnings.
GREENE, N.Y – The Raymond Corporation introduces its all new Raymond® Model 112XD Walkie Pallet truck with the latest technological enhancements offering operators unsurpassed durability and performance.
The Model 112XD offers improved pallet entry and exit with extended tip forks enclosed from underneath to provide smoother transition over bottom boards and reduced fork thickness for better clearance.
Improved performance is evident with the truck's speed and acceleration. The Model 112XD travels 6.4 mph loaded and 8.8 mph unloaded, and has significantly enhanced acceleration in the coast mode for faster order picking.
The four point lift system eliminates the urethane rings and snap lift pins, increases reliability with elimination of the horizontal loading of lift cylinders, and offers easier serviceability of lift rams. The shock dampening brushings absorb impact loads from dock plates.
“The Model 112XD Walkie Pallet truck has a very robust design,” Warren Brower, Marketing Director, Class III Products at The Raymond Corporation, said. The Model 112XD has a clean, component free undercarriage; quick, change drive tire; adjustable, heavy duty casters; solid steel pulls rods; and box-rail fork construction,” he added.
“The new Raymond 112XD Series sets a new standard in performance, reliability and durability by which all others in this category will now be measured, “Brower stated.
The Raymond Corporation is the leading North American provider of materials handling solutions that improve space utilization and productivity, with lower cost of operation and greater operator acceptance. High-performance, reliable, ergonomically designed Raymond products range from a full line of manual and electric pallet trucks and walkie stackers to counterbalanced trucks, Reach-Fork® Trucks, orderpickers and dual-purpose (pallet handling/case picking) Swing-Reach® Trucks.

MissionOur Mission is to be the recognized leader in providing highdensitystorage/orderpicking systems and their associated services to companies engaged in warehousing and distribution. We are known for our competence, our high quality products and service, and our high level of integrity and fairness in our dealings with customers, suppliers, employees, and other members of the community. We are uniquely creative and innovative in our approach to solving problems,
both internally and with customers.
Raymond Handling Concepts values competence and customer service. In order to ensure that our customers receive all the advantages and benefits they expect from their Raymond equipment, we support them with some of the best-trained and qualified service technicians in the industry. All of our new service techs go through an extensive, six month Raymond Accelerated Technical Training (RATT) class with one of our Certified Technical Trainers, before they are allowed to see a customer. In order to graduate, each RATT must pass the Raymond Basic Certification Test. But it doesn’t stop there. All of our service techs receive continuous training on specialty equipment, new products, and product revisions, as well as regular refresher programs and are certified by Raymond at two or more advanced levels. All of this is done to ensure that you will have complete confidence that your Raymond truck will be taken care of quickly and competently.
Our Field Service Technicians are "zoned" to ensure fast response time in emergency situations. Each of our fully equipped vans carries its own stock of parts based on the population of Raymond trucks in its operating zone to maximize the probability of repairing your down truck in only one visit. All service calls are taken by Service Dispatchers at each local branch where the nature and urgency of the situation is determined. The Dispatcher can immediately direct the appropriate service tech via radio to the customer location with preliminary information about the problem. Additionally, all service techs, as well as service management, technical trainers, parts and rental personnel are equipped with radios, so most times technical and customer service issues can be resolved immediately.
In recent years many Raymond users, even Raymond Fleet users have decided that they prefer to be in the warehousing or distribution business and not the fork lift maintenance business. Raymond Handling Concepts has structured maintenance programs for customers with from one to over a hundred trucks. You can make your annual budgeting job simple by selecting our Comprehensive Fixed Price Maintenance Program (CFPM) and fix your maintenance costs for up to five years. Whichever program best suits your needs, you will have the confidence that comes with knowing that you are being serviced by fully qualified and experienced Raymond Service Techs from Raymond Handling Concepts.
All companies must train every worker who operates a lift truck. It’s the law. But it’s also an opportunity to protect and enhance people, equipment and materials as valuable resources.
OSHA regulations state what training must be covered so the employer can certify the operator and maintain a safe workplace. Given these requirements, your first real choice is to make the right training investment to minimize the risks and maximize the opportunities for your company.
Studies have shown that effective training, such as the program offered through Raymond Handling Concepts, can improve operator safety performance by 70 percent. Such training can help your company achieve bottom line results with:
Fewer accidents and disruptions
Lower insurance, medical, and legal costs
Reduced workers’ compensation claims and premiums
Less downtime or lost time
Decreased product damage and maintenance costs
Better worker and customer satisfaction
Greater productivity and throughput
Extended equipment life
It all translates into real opportunities to improve your company’s profitability.
Raymond’s Safety-On-The-Moveä program, available through Raymond Handling Concepts’ certified trainers, meets or exceeds regulations and standards in the U.S. and Canada, as well as the guidelines of the Industrial Truck Association. While other lift truck manufacturers may offer basic training, you can turn to the Raymond team to meet your special needs for training with Safety-On-The-Moveä .
If you have a fleet of Raymond trucks to maintain and have chosen to use your own maintenance staff, one of your biggest concerns is how to keep your maintenance staff qualified to maintain and repair the equipment. It is absolutely necessary that your staff be properly trained to trouble shoot and repair your Raymond trucks for you to realize its superior performance and lower operating cost advantages.
Raymond Handling Concepts has Raymond Certified Technical Trainers on our staff that are available to support this need. Whether you want to send an individual to one of our regularly scheduled, model-specific training classes, or you want a Technical Trainer for a few hours of informal consulting with your staff at your maintenance facility, Raymond Handling Concepts has a solution to fit your needs. Contact your local Raymond Handling Concepts branch for details and rates.
More and more, leasing has become a popular way to acquire new and used Raymond equipment. Whether you want to eventually own the equipment, or want the flexibility to "pay for use" and replace the equipment in a few years, Raymond Handling Concepts has a program for you. Using Raymond Leasing, The Raymond Corporation’s captive leasing company, we can offer competitive rates and guarantied residuals, something most other leasing companies would refuse to do.
