JOB TITLE:                                                  Division Purchasing Manager – Northeast  




REPORTS TO:                                             Direct: VP, Rexel Sourcing



Indirect: Division Sales President Northeast         





In the role of Division Purchasing Manager – Northeast Division, you are responsible for carrying out the corporate initiatives and for the purchasing function within the Northeast Division.  This includes inventory performance as well as customer service.   You will work closely with the Division Sales President (DSP) and Division Operations Manager (DOM) to deliver on service expectations as well as lead the team to meet these goals. 




 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • In addition to the essential job functions described below, all associates will perform duties as requested by management. Assigned duties may vary based upon location size and operations.





Primary Responsibilities


  • Supervise the development, training and job responsibilities of Purchasing Agents & Purchasing Planner(s)

  • Ability to explain and instruct the following purchasing practices and philosophies of Rexel USA:

  • Review items for purchase; initiate changes as identified

  • Complete understanding of all aspects of purchasing product
    • Initiate parameter adjustments as needed in conjunction with divisional leadership and National Inventory Manager

    • Vendor metrics; negotiating, monitoring and maintaining



  • Ability to identify areas for improvement and develop solutions

  • Complete understanding and ability to present and discuss corporate inventory management goals and guidelines including:
    • Inventory goals

    • Turns and/or Days investment

    • Major vendor changes



  • Supervise and instruct associates directly responsible for;
    • Purchasing

    • Necessary file maintenance

    • Inventory management/Inventory control

    • All other aspects of divisional sourcing



  • Travel as necessary to accomplish the following tasks;
    • Vendor/ Mfg Rep alignments

    • Branch associate training

    • HQ meetings (as necessary)

    • Branch/vendor rapport



  • Approving and submitting all department expenses

  • Handling and coordinating of all HR/personnel issues including:
    • Annual Performance Reviews

    • Compensation, including Salary Planning and Variable Pay process, if applicable

    • Coordination of benefits/payroll issues

    • Promotions/Merit increases/Bonus allocations

    • Department restructure



  • Special reporting as requested

  • Consistent and timely communications with associates to keep them advised of current issues, initiatives and pertinent topics

  • Regular communication with branch associates using the following methods;

  • Conference calls

  • Web casts

  • E-mails/News letters

  • On site visits

  • Facilitate coordination with the Accounts Payable to quickly resolve any issues or discrepancies

  • Consistently displays a customer service attitude toward the branches and develops a rapport with DVP, function Divisional Managers, Area Sales Managers, and all branch and sales associates

  • High productivity in work process

  • Comfortable with all aspects of vendor relations including;

  • Negotiating local/regional programs

  • Resolving vendor/rep/branch disputes

  • Communicating corporate expectations of our partner vendors and  programs with said vendors

  • Communicating the relationship between our partner vendors and the Hub Network

  • Department awareness; looks for opportunities to offer advice and training






Other


  • Represent the company in a highly professional manner at all times ensuring quality customer service

  • Abide by all policies, rules, and regulations of the company including all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures

  • Support corporate programs, goals, and initiatives of the company

  • Assistance during physical inventories

  • Work overtime as needed

  • Exhibit understanding of leadership/role model skills

  • Overnight stays as needed
